〜初代（猪目）柄〜
一見ハートに見えるこの文様、実は「猪目（いのめ）」と呼ばれる日本の伝統柄。魔除けや福を呼ぶ縁起の良い模様で、神社やお寺の屋根飾り「懸魚（げぎょ）」などにもよく使われています。ハート型の由来には諸説あり、イノシシの目や菩提樹の葉が元になったとも言われています。

※手ぬぐいのデザインは、祖父が持っていたアーカイブ資料『新手拭』を参考に、wanonunoオリジナル用にサンプリングしました。

インクジェットプリントでもなく顔料プリントでもなく、日本古来に伝わる伝統の注染で仕上げたwanonunoオリジナル手ぬぐい。染めの手ぬぐいは7～8割が注染という染め方を採用しています。30-40枚折り重ねて染料を垂らすという昔ながらの手法は、型版を作るところから始まり、細かな柄の再現が非常に難しいのも特徴。手作業の染めならではのかすれや色が生地裏までしっかりと通り、柔らかな風合いが魅力です。

＜注染の特徴＞

〇糸自体を染めるため、裏表のないきれいな染め表現が可能

＜お取り扱い上の注意＞
・手ぬぐいの性質上、端は切りっぱなしのためお使い始めはほつれがございますが、自然に落ち着きます。
・手染め（昔ながらの手作業）のため、色落ち・色移り場合があります。
・洗濯は、単独で手洗いしてください。
・洗剤を使用の際は、中性洗剤をご使用の上、漂白剤は避けてください。
・長時間つけおきは避けて、皺を伸ばし、日陰で干してください。

– Shodai (First Generation – Inome Pattern) –
At first glance, this motif may look like a heart—but it’s actually “Inome”, a traditional Japanese pattern. Believed to ward off evil and invite good fortune, the inome shape has long appeared in shrine and temple architecture, especially in decorative elements called gegyo found on rooftops.

Its origin is debated: some say it resembles a wild boar’s eye (inoshishi no me), while others trace it to the sacred Bodhi leaf.

Available in two colors: deep green and deep brown

The design was inspired by a piece from my grandfather’s archive, Shin Tenugui, and reimagined as a wanonuno original

This wanonuno original tenugui is dyed not with inkjet or pigment, but using chusen, a traditional Japanese hand-dyeing technique still used today for 70–80% of dyed tenugui. In this process, 30–40 pieces are folded and stacked, and dye is poured by hand from above. It begins with creating a custom stencil and requires great skill to reproduce detailed patterns.

The result is uniquely soft in texture, with colors that penetrate all the way through the fabric—naturally uneven and charming, as only handmade work can be.

Carefully made by artisans using time-honored methods, this chusen-dyed tenugui is more versatile than you might expect:

＜What Makes Chusen Unique＞
No two are exactly the same—each is hand-dyed by skilled artisans
Because the dye penetrates the threads themselves, both front and back are evenly colored
Multiple colors can be applied at once, allowing for natural blending and subtle gradations

The edges are left unfinished; some fraying may occur at first, but this will naturally settle over time
As the item is hand-dyed using traditional methods, color may fade or transfer
Wash separately by hand
Use only neutral detergent, and avoid bleach
Do not soak for long periods; gently reshape and dry in the shade
